Metro in not failing science shock.

Nope. Actually they're quoting someone else who clearly wasn't paying attention in school.

It comes in this story about a man who, on discovering he had terminal cancer killed himself and hid the body.

Paul Ludwig climbed a tree, tied himself to it and then shot himself, leaving a note saying "Don't look for me – you won't find me." The body remained undiscovered for 29 years until, as the tree grew the ropes tightened, severing the arms and legs and dropping the bones to the ground, where they were discovered.

Sadly the "honour" failing basic gardening falls to Mr Ludwig's nephew, who is quoted as saying: "With two artificial hips, I have no idea how he managed to climb up the tree. It wasn't so high, I guess, 30 years ago."

I'm sorry for your loss, and the fact that this discovery has probably brought those emotions back, but you ought to know that trees don't grow from the bottom.
