Let there be light...

One cheap desk lamp, strip the plastic tubing from it, and then paint with some blue transparent enamel paint. Bit of the ubiquitous sticky-backed plastic, and it looks much nicer than before. And in the best traditions of Blue Peter here it is next to one I haven't done earlier.
